Thinking back on those debates, I finally figured it out. The reasonable right’s rhetoric is exactly the same as the antebellum rhetoric I’d read so much of. The same exact words. The same exact arguments. Rhetoric, to be precise, in support of the slave-owning South.

I would say the WaPo jumped the shark with this one, except that they took that jump quite some time ago. This is absolutely disgusting. It's so outrageous that maybe a few more people will begin to see just how outrageous.
Unfortunately, too many of my son's generation are drinking that Kool-aid. Pray for our country.
Katherine, I keep thinking that, yes, this will be the tipping point, and it never is. It's not just as u.r. says, that they're drinking the Kool-Aid, but they get this from all sides.
Of course, her contentions are malicious and flagrantly silly. If they wish to stop being malicious and flagrantly silly, we can talk. Otherwise, tell 'em to go f*** themselves.
