HORST WESSEL TWEETS

New York City's gauleiter gets in some brownshirt practice.

Nathan Wurtzel thinks this reads better in the original German.  But why single out the Jews, Wilhelm?  People tend to notice stuff like that.  This might have had something to do with it.  Seems that Wilhelm personally assisted in breaking up a Jewish funeral.

Pretty funny considering that not all that long ago, you were trying to get people to patronize NYC restaurants, you go to Brooklyn whenever the mood strikes you and you still haven't shut down the subways.  But do a mosque now.

UPDATE: Some people have trouble with nuance, don't they, Herr Gauleiter?  But if it's any consolation, Das Bloat* is on board.

*Term explained here.

NYC is distributing half a million halal meals to Muslims in the city this Ramadan. I'd bet anything they're not doing surveillance on the mosques for iftar gatherings.

Meanwhile, in my county, the County Commission chairman has issued very specific guidelines prohibiting not only Christian worship services but the distribution of communion. A Missouri Synod Lutheran pastor was holding small services for church members, in compliance with social distancing standards, and someone called the police.

I have been waiting for some photos of the Ramadan evening services at various Brooklyn mosques. Haven't seen any. Has someone else seen one?

Jews have to obey the same laws as everybody else. The Hassidic Jews are notorious for their contempt of any authority that doesn't originate with their sect. They hold Jews who're not members of their sect in contempt.

What is really strange is that the Hassidic community has been hard hit by the Covid-19 because they won't obey the rules for fighting the virus. Yet they, and knee-jerk Philo-Semites scream 'Anti-Semitism!' because the mayor of NYC insists that they obey the rules like everybody else has to. If this's is 'Anti-Semiticism!', why are they taking the exact same precautions in Israel? Are the leaders of Israel self-hating Jews? I think not!

A thread which blames pretty much everyone. Chasidim evidently coordinated with the NYPD, and thought that the crowds outside to watch the Blue Angels and to enjoy Central Park would justify their outdoor funeral procession for their rabbi. They distributed masks to mourners.

De Blasio's tweet didn't just blame this Hassidic group. He said "the Jewish community" is on notice. All Jews, most of whom are not breaking social distancing rules.

Some NYC church opens back up and holds some kind of service or other. Somebody in that church dies of something. Might be the Chinese Flu, might be a heart attack, might be Alzheimer's, might be congestive heart failure, etc. So Mayor Mussolini marches back in and announces that the church has to close back up again.

Protecting the public health, doncha know.

Two things. People die of lots of things every single day and nothing anyone can do can affect that very much. And if this precedent doesn't scare the hell out of you, you're not paying nearly enough attention

When did we Americans become so terrified of death? We are now holding society hostage because some obese somebody or other with an impaired immune system just might drop dead. My observation is that this has been a very long time coming.

I'm taking reasonable precautions, as a septuagenarian (!!), and trusting in God and where I'll go if this gets me.

Since these Hasidic sects stick very much closely together, and don't mingle with others much, they represent a rather small threat to the city as a whole. Plus, these men were all outside and wearing masks! This was safer than being on the subway.

To those who think these NYC restrictions are not aimed at Jews, take a look at this tweet. Rabbis, each wearing a face mask, sitting six feet from each other in a Talmud study, are busted by police:
