The Democrat party is at war with America. That is the clear message of the Democrats’ responses to the crises that have engulfed our nation over the last six months, made our streets war zones, and destroyed the small business communities that are the lifeblood of our system. When the country was attacked by a deadly virus from China in January, the Democrats attacked the president’s efforts to stop it at the border, then blamed him for the 100,000 deaths that followed. Yet Democrat governors controlled the health systems of every major center of the covid19 devastation and were 100% responsible for any policies that failed.
When the president attempted to re-open the economy in May, Democrat governors and mayors issued draconian orders to arrest individuals violating their “social distancing” injunctions by strolling in parks, lounging on beaches and – worst of all - attempting to revive their barbershops and salons. As a direct consequence of these imposed shutdowns forty million Americans lost their jobs. To many of us, the Democrats’ purpose was clear: to depress the economy and blame the consequences on the president. This became the incessant theme of their political utterances and ads.
It's hard not to come to that conclusion. I mean, who in the world is ever going to get excited by Joe Biden? In 2012, Mitt Romney had the same kind of vibe for the GOP. This man is a genuine, pedal-to-the-metal, foot-to-the-floorboards, rock-ribbed conservative?
Seriously? Do you really think we're that stupid?
After 2012, Donald Trump was the most inevitable person in the world and any "conservatives" who still claim not to understand that need to get out of public life and stay out of it forever. So let's just face facts, shall we?
The Democrats have thrown away whatever "moderation" they had left and kicked in with, well, basically, communism. Put 40,000,000 people out of work and burn down the rest of it. Joe can make all the leftist policy claims he cares to but nobody believes he actually means any of it.
The last thing in the world the left wants is for Joe Biden to win in the fall. Because if you win, you have to produce results. And the left can't do that and it knows it can't do that.
Ever.
Better to destroy everything and try to recreate something from the ashes.
With any kind of luck.

Everything about their platform has some kind of apocalyptic element...
Global warming, abortion, rioting, racial strife, equality of outcome, etc.
Some of it is utopian, some of it is dystopian, some of it is just their view of the cosmic struggle between good (them) and evil (fill in the blank). Burn it down and rebuild is just the 2020 version of Noah's Ark. The right people need to be spared to start over.
At least Bond villains like Hugo Drax and Karl Stromberg had a method to their madness when trying to take over the world and start over. And the fictional part, of course.
"and – worst of all - attempting to revive their barbershops and salons."
It's my understanding that in Black and Latino neighborhoods, barbershops and salons are more than just businesses, they often serve as community gathering places or touchstones in much the same way that a neighborhood bar in a white ethnic neighborhood or a coffee shop/diner in a small farming community would. A couple of weeks ago I personally heard two IL state legislators -- one Black, one Latino, both from Chicago -- say that keeping those establishments closed for so long was "killing" their communities. Kinda makes you wonder if that wasn't a big part of the fuel for these riots....
Elaine, I think so too. There are a lot of frustrated, lonely, unemployed people. According to what I have read, George Floyd had serious problems in his past, but had turned his life around and was working at it. His job as a bouncer went away, and there he was, high on fentanyl, passing a counterfeit bill at a deli, and then dead. Tragic, really.
The Democrats have not thrown in the towel. Sleepy Joe is the only "palatable" candidate they can put at the top of the ticket to try to get moderate Democrats and left leaning Independents to vote Democrat. Their Vice Presidential candidate will be their real choice; they will use the 25th Amendment to remove Sleepy Joe before the Inauguration.
Also they are trying to pull full fraud to put a veto proof Democrat Congress in for 2021 in case Trump wins. Short of that they want a Congress that will deadlock the government for 4 years until they can cheat to put a Democrat in the White House and create their dystopian Utopia.
I am fully convinced by the last weeks riots and looting that the United States of America as envisioned 220 years ago is DEAD or nearly so. I have no hope of a recovery but it doesn't mean I won't try to effect one.
I think there's a lot to that, Bill. I don't know if the Dems are fully engaged yet or anything. Like you, I want to see what happens if Trump ends up winning this thing. That's where the rubber meets the road.
