Is Kimmy setting herself up for
yet another magisterially epic fail? Of course, it's not like
this area has any problems or anything (SPOILER ALERT - There's a reason why lots of us around here can't remember the last time we saw the Cardinals play in person).

Ouch. I had no idea it’s become so bad in the city. When I was fresh out of school and newly married, (early 1980’s), my wife and I lived for several years in the Bevo Mill neighborhood, on Itaska St. Except for a ten year old neighborhood arsonist who torched my detached garage and several others nearby, (always when no vehicle was parked in them, interestingly), crime wasn’t out of hand for an inner city mostly White ‘hood. It was great having a 15-minute commute with no highway traffic to and from downtown. But the city wasn’t doing anything then to try and keep people from moving away, nor has it done so throughout the steep population decline since the 1950’s. Very sad, because it didn’t have to be that way. So many beautiful historic homes and landmarks just rotting away. Sigh.
I currently live about a hundred yards west of the River Des Peres so I can walk into the city whenever the mood strikes me. The rot's working its way west and St. Charles or Jefferson counties may be the next hill this area's conservatives will die on. For the first time in my life, I am seriously considering buying a gun.
Yikes, that is bad. Back in the early 90's I used to play a lot of Muny League softball in Forest Park, Arsenal Park and sometimes Carondolet. Mostly night games, of course, since all the players were working somewhere during the day. I doubt that sort of thing is very safe any more.
A few years ago, a guy got shot and badly injured hard by Busch Stadium immediately after a Cardinal game. And I don't know of anybody who wants to chance those parking garages anymore. Maybe the city patrols them acceptably, I don't know.
