CRAP JUST GOT REAL

Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died.  And if you think the left is batcrap now...if you think the American news media are all insufferable Democratic stenographers now.

UPDATE: Looks like the left will be playing this religious bigot garbage again.

RIP, and condolences to her family.

The Senate and the president have the power and the undisputed right to get a replacement on the Court before the new year. It would be good to have the vacancy filled ASAP, given the Democrats' threats to litigate the election after they lose it. A 4-4 tie could be disastrous. I think even Ginsburg was in the 7-2 majority who declared that Gore's selective-by-county recounts violated equal protection.

Last month, in an interview, Trump said he would move quickly if there were a vacancy. Amy Coney Barrett, next week?

If I ever would have met Ruth Ginsburg I probably would have enjoyed talking to her. She had a very clear analytical mind, although I would have disagreed with her conclusions.

Joe Biden has said that the nomination needs to be pushed off until January, because the people need to elect a president and the president needs to select a justice. Well, hello, Joe. We elected a president in 2016, and he's still president, and probably will be for four more years. But, nice try, Joe.

The thought of Harris, now running on the Harris-Biden ticket, having to suspend campaigning to go to Washington and be nasty to a possibly female nominee in hearings is delicious. She was disgusting in the Kavanaugh hearing.

Someone posted on Facebook that the far Left would be lashing out at the legacy of RBG for not retiring when Obama was president.

Then, almost simultaneuosly, this.

She learned her trade working under Willie Brown. Disgusting is what she does.

Not the sort of thing Fr. Zuhlsdorf usually posts:

but the lunatic meltdown of that crazywoman is a wonder to behold. (Warning: she lays down a carpet of f-bombs.)

Lots of crazy people out there, William Tighe. It's frightening.

Make the nomination and take the vote. Hearings are neither necessary nor required. The left will have its “spittle-flecked nutty” in any event. To h### with them. Figuratively speaking, of course. As the great Saint of the Left Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama once said, to the raucous cheers of the sycophantic media, “Elections have consequences.” And Katherine is exactly right, we cannot afford a 4-4 Court in the event of election challenges. I pray Trump wins so convincingly that such challenges will be mere window dressing, but if he doesn’t, we are in for a rough ride. A clear SCOTUS majority for the rule of law is essential. Also, not incidentally, Roberts needs to be demoted from the “swing vote” position he obviously relishes. Let him be part of a four-justice minority instead.

I saw a headline -- at the Daily Mail, which has gone nuts -- that Barrett belongs to a "religious cult" which inspired "The Handmaid's Tale," and thus those insane women wearing Little Red Riding Hood outfits. Trump could take the bull by the horns and nominate her, a wonderful legal mind and Catholic conservative, in spite of the insane people; or, he could nominate the Cuban-American woman, Barbara Lagoa, who is, as far as I can see, also well-qualified. It might be fun to see Sotomayor joined by an actual wise Latina.

Reading the internet here and there, one report says Rubio is pushing for Lagoa but the White House isn't convinced. A writer at the American Spectator suggests Stephanie Dawkins Davis, a Trump appointee to the Federal District Court in eastern Michigan, confirmed unanimously last year. She's African-American.

But I think the sheer brain power and focus of Amy Coney Barrett win. Leftists are going to have fits no matter who the nominee is.

I think Katherine is right again. Barrett is a potential superstar. The others are qualified and would probably be fine, but why not go for the best? With or without hearings, it's going to be akin to open warfare, and that's not even talking about what the "antifa" and "BLM" thugs will do in the streets. Just more GOTV ads for Trump and the down-ticket GOP.

I saw something somewhere to the effect that after their disgraceful performances in the Brett Kavanaugh hearing, where they tried to destroy Kavanaugh's life in front of his family and to do it with lies, the Democrats don't deserve one iota of consideration from the Republicans. The gloves need to come off and if that officially starts the next civil war, so be it.

If I'm not mistaken, prior to 1914, confirmation hearings for judges were unusual if not unknown. The controversial nomination of Louis Brandeis in 1914 changed that. Given the behavior of the Democrats in the Kavanaugh imbroglio, I'd be delighted if Cocaine Mitch just sent it to the floor and said, "Just Do It".

The tail's wagging the dog here. FWER, Susan Collins wants a 5th term and she's having a difficult time, so she's not inclined to do things which could be fodder for her opponent's brochures. AFAICT, the whole point of Mitt Romney getting himself elected to Congress was to have an outlet for spite, so he's not co-operating, either. Sleaza Murkowski (R-Her Daddy) is being herself, and that's unedifying. Then you have the capon caucus, Richard Burr and Rob Portman among them.

Surprise, surprise. Mitt Romney is on board. Why? I haven't a clue.
