PERSPECTIVE

Know what's way worse than taking online crap from a Bernie Brownshirt?

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Thursday that presidential candidates are responsible for attacks their supporters are making online, adding that such attacks are a problem among supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) 2020 campaign.

“I want to say for all candidates … we are responsible for the people who claim to be our supporters and do really threatening, ugly, dangerous things to others,” Warren said in an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.

The interview with the Massachusetts lawmaker was held the same day she announced she’d be ending her presidential campaign.

SCHADENFREUDE

Cigar Store staffers learn How Life Works.

Woebegone Elizabeth Warren staffers — heartbroken and adrift after the Cambridge Democrat tearily ended her presidential campaign Thursday following on ignominious Super Tuesday showing — cried, drank, sought comfort dogs and made personal fundraising pitches as they faced sudden unemployment.

Volunteers, staff and supporters flocked to Twitter to share bitter accusations, misty-eyed memories and pictures of new tattoos freshly inked in support of the senator.

“As someone who has worked for the Presidential candidate who dropped out after an early primary: They dont want your takes. They dont want to tell you ‘what’s next.’ They dont want to tell you who they support now. They want you to Venmo them $10 for drinks and shut up,” tweeted Bobby Bauch, Iowa training director for Warren’s campaign.

Warren built up an extensive ground game from the start, hiring a huge roster of sought-after staffers to get out the vote. But those votes never materialized in sufficient numbers, and Warren’s exit left her staff with little to do except make mournful requests that varied from practical to pathetic.

Another takeaway.  Maybe working for a candidate who has spent a couple of decades lying through her Caucasian teeth about her ethnicity for personal and professional gain was not the smartest move in the world, particularly when said white woman has the demeanor of a cross between an arrogant tenured professor and a nasty librarian.

Just a thought.

UPDATE: There are life lessons to be learned from participating in a losing presidential campaign.  Unfortunately, in order to learn these lessons, one first needs to be an adult.

BLOWBACK

Take this to the bank.  The longer Bernie Sanders stays in this race, the more stories like this one will surface.  Because Sanders' principal enemy right now is not Trump nor is it Biden.  It is the Deep State and the Deep State protects its own.

The reason for that is simplicity itself.  At this late stage of his life, Joe Biden is an amiable, corrupt dunce.  A Washingtonian through and through, the District is Joe's whole world so he'll gladly stick to issues like gun control or "climate change" and won't raise any serious objections to anything else as long as he and/or his kids can make a little money out of it.

Joe Biden is a Democrat, after all.

As far as the Deep State is concerned, a genial sock puppet is infinitely preferable to the man who currently holds the office.  Biden will leave the Deep State alone and won't try to pretend that his word or his policy preferences mean jack to anybody.

Sanders, on the other hand, is also a loose cannon and a left-wing loose cannon isn't really all that much of an improvement over a conservative one.  Particularly since, in the unlikely event of a Sanders victory in November, that crashing sound you'll immediately hear will be the sound of American capital making for the national exits all at once.

Make no mistake, Communist.  You're in their crosshairs now.

FOE PAW

Chuckie steps in it.  Big-time.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer appeared to threaten Trump-appointed Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch over their potential votes in the first abortion case before the Supreme Court with the new conservative majority, during a #MyRightMyDecision rally outside the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

“I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price," Schumer said to a chorus of cheers. "You won't know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions."

Chuckie can't be serious, can he?  When his spin is this stupid and inept, that's really the only conclusion anyone can reasonably come to.

Schumer, instead of apologizing, doubled down on his rhetoric. His spokesman, Justin Goodman, even accused Roberts of bias for "misinterpreting" Schumer's statement. “Sen. Schumer’s comments were a reference to the political price Senate Republicans will pay for putting these justices on the court," Goodman claimed, though it's unmistakable that Schumer was threatening the justices he called out.

Let's see.  Mention two conservative justices by name. Don't mention the GOP at all.  Oh yeah, now I see it.  It should be perfectly obvious what Chuckie was referring to.

Give me a break.

If the times in which we live weren't bonkers, nobody would make anything of this.  Chuckie was among some of his Nazi friends and he let his brownshirt rhetoric get the better of him.

No big deal.

But since we live in a time when Brett Kavanaugh becomes a sexual predator simply because some left-wingers want him to be and therefore declare him to be one, case closed, Chuckie gets no consideration at all.  If all this upsets him, have Chuckie complain to some leftist or other.

They rewrote the rulebook.  Chuckie can live with the new rules.

UPDATE: Chuckie triples down.

Chuckie? If you weren't making a threat, what difference does it make what words you used?  And how do you reconcile those words you shouldn't have used with all those Republicans "who are busy manufacturing outrage?"

How can anyone "manufacture outrage" over nothing at all?

It's like I said before, Chuckie.  They're your rules now.  Deal with them.

ALL HAT AND NO CATTLE

What happened to Cigar Store?  She not only didn't win her home state primary in Massachusetts, she finished third.  According  to Michael Graham of the Boston Herald, this is what happened.  As far as Cigar Store is concerned, at the end of the day, there is, to borrow a line from Gertrude Stein about Oakland, California, no there there.

Stop for a moment and savor with me the delicious schadenfreude of Sen. Warren’s faceplant of a POTUS campaign. However bad you hoped it might be — it was worse.

As a candidate for high public office, Liz Warren makes Martha Coakley look competent. As a champion of progressive politics, she’s done more damage than a bevy of Fox News hosts. As a representative of the quality of Massachusetts politicians she …

OK, she aced that.

How lousy is Liz Warren at running for POTUS?

Here’s former DNC chair Donna Brazile: “For Warren to come in third, or even second, in Massachusetts — that’s terrible.”

Here’s CNN liberal Dana Bash: “She lost to a man who never even campaigned in her state. She’s the senior senator in Massachusetts. … It’s an embarrassing defeat.”

And here’s the Boston Globe-Democrat: “She was, to my mind, the smartest, most exciting, inspiring, and best prepared presidential candidate since Barack Obama in 2008.” That was from a Globe columnist AFTER she lost her home state.

Week after week, defeat after defeat, the house organ of the Warren campaign kept cranking out pro-Liz agitprop. One Globe-Democrat reporter said after Liz’s New Hampshire defeat, “Warren’s done everything right!” And if you ignore the whole “getting people to vote for you” part, maybe she did.

Of course, the Globies are blaming Warren’s loss on sexism. And who’s more sexist than Massachusetts’ Democrats, right? Except maybe the misogynists of New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine — the other New England states where Warren’s campaign stunk up the joint.

With 94% of the vote reported late yesterday, Warren had won a total of 12 Massachusetts cities and townships. Out of 351. Ah, yes, those right-wing Democrats in Concord, Newton and Natick just couldn’t bring themselves to vote for a woman.

Can't add anything to all that.  I can only say that I'd like to think that Cigar Store's fundamental dishonesty may have played at least a little role in people's thinking.  After all, if you adopt a fake ethnicity to advance yourself professionally, if you spend years claiming this ethnicity only to have it blow up in your face, why should anyone trust anything else you say about anything at all?

UPDATE: Presented without comment except that it is, of course, Trump's fault.

SCHOOL'S OUT

Were American public education not such a dumpster fire, the following would signal the end of the Communist's presidential run and his complete banishment from American public life.

American Alan Gross, a prisoner in Cuba for five years during the Obama administration, is accusing Bernie Sanders of commending the communist country when the senator came to visit him behind bars.

Sanders visited Cuba as part of a congressional delegation in 2014, along with Sens. Heidi Heitkamp and Jon Tester.

During the one-hour meeting, Sanders told the prisoner that he didn't understand why others criticized Cuba, Gross said in an interview with NPR.

"He said, quote: 'I don't know what's so wrong with this country,' " Gross recalled.

He said he had a pleasant conversation with Heitkamp and Tester, while Sanders remained mostly quiet for the duration of their one-hour meeting.

"Senator Sanders didn't really engage much in the conversation," Gross said.

But near the end, the Vermont senator offered a comment to the detained American, saying he didn't see what was so wrong with the country.

"I just think, you know, it was a stupid thing for him to do," Gross told NPR. "First, how could he not have seen the incredible deterioration of what was once the grandeur of the pre-Castro era. And two, how could be so insensitive to make that remark to a political hostage — me!"

Look at the upside.  Thanks to Castro,  every single person in Cuba can read the "No Food Today" signs in the shops.  That's got to count for something.
