OZYMANDIAS

Don't worry.  When American "journalism" finally falls to the ground, smashes into dust and blows away (I've got a week from next Sunday in the pool), we'll all have plenty of fine replacements.

Like this guy.

UPDATE:  Professional journalism.  Phil Bump at the Washington Post sends along this delightful exploding soufflé.

Jake Tapper used to be a good reporter. Since he joined CNN, he drank the kool aid.

Christopher Johnson said...

CNN tends to do that to people. See Amanda Carpenter.

On the update: That's pathetic. In addition, if he did the murder rates, it would look even worse.

Used to think Tapper was drop dead gorgeous to look at. Now he makes me giggle. Or something.

That wasn't supposed to be anonymous. Sybbie Marshall thinks Tapper is a jerk!!!

As long as I'm being juvenile, the name *Philip Bump* sounds like something out of Dickens, and the character would not be an admirable one.

Does Philip Bump realize he just proved Trump right? Of the first bar graph, 85% are Democrats 10% Independent, and only 5% Republican. Of the second graph, 95% is Democrat with 5% Independent and 0% Republican.

Of course, the people that want to believe will look at the charts and think that Bump proved his point.

Joseph Goebbels said, “Make the lie big, keep it simple, keep saying it and eventually they will believe it.”

Bump thinks he disproved Trump's claim that the worst cities are "all" run by Democrats. "Almost all" is what he showed. Springfield, Missouri? This is a national crime problem?

Christopher Johnson said...

Anybody in the country who wants to go to Branson, probably. It's right nearby Springfield.

Now, now, Syb. I've got a Bump/Bumpus or two back along my family line. :-)

The presence of tourists with cash might be why the crime rate is higher there, Chris. Lots of targets.

Making the chart about cities with more than 100,000 population seems like a calculated ploy to suck in some non-Democrat-run municipalities. I mean, come on..,my Dallas suburb is bigger than Springfield. And even then, they failed to do anything but make Trump look correct and themselves look petty and silly. At least, to anyone except the perennial 30% of the electorate who would happily vote for Satan himself if he ran as a D.

OK, Chris, I'll let it remind me of *Bumppo*, then. But not for that nozzle.

That surname turns up among the Wampanoag and black Creek Indians, Syb. No proof of anything but I just thought I'd throw that out there. Used to be French Huguenot if I remember correctly. Bonpas or something.

I was thinking Natty Bumppo. Always loved that name and was annoyed that the fairly recent movie turned it into Nathaniel Poe.

Bump, Bumppo, Bonpas... could these be variations on 'Bumpus' as in Ralphie's hillbilly neighbours with all the dogs in 'A Christmas Story'?
