GRETA THUNBERG?

Hate to be the one to break this to you, square head, but if you actually cared about the climate as much as you claim you do, you'd be back in Sweden right now delivering this little speech of yours over the Internet.  The technology exists.  For that matter, if they cared anything at all about the environment, all the rest of the wastes of perfectly good oxygen that make up the United Nations would be back in their various national homes watching you over their computers.

Greta Thunberg has excoriated world leaders for their “betrayal” of young people through their inertia over the climate crisis at a United Nations summit that failed to deliver ambitious new commitments to address dangerous global heating.

In a stinging speech on Monday, the teenage Swedish climate activist told governments that “you are still not mature enough to tell it like it is. You are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal.”

But Thunberg predicted the summit would not deliver any new plans in line with the radical cuts in greenhouse gas emissions that scientists say are needed to avoid catastrophic climate breakdown. “The eyes of all future generations are upon you,” a visibly emotional Thunberg said. “And if you choose to fail us I say we will never forgive you. We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line.”

Considering all the airplanes that flew you and all those UN officials to New York City for that conference, probably doing more harm to the environment in a few hours than most people are capable of doing in a year in the process, you and your supporters are in no position to bitch and lecture.  So until you learn what the word "videoconference" means, you need to realize that nobody with a functioning brain is going to listen to anything you say about anything at all.

I can't help but remember that the Children's Crusade also ended badly.

Sound and fury, signifying nothing. Meanwhile, supporters of the cause shut down traffic in DC this morning. This dumpster fire of a "protest" included an actual dumpster fire and a whole lot of cars and buses with engines idling, making extra pollution.

Fox headline says Trump promises big message at U.N. today. You'll pardon me if I'm crossing my fingers and whispering, please let it be US withdrawal from UN" Hey, I can dream can't I?

"I can't help but remember that the Children's Crusade also ended badly."

I haven't studied that, but my impression is the children walked to the shore because they believed God would miracle them across the sea to the Holy Land, it didn't happen and the pope praised them for their conviction, but told them to go home. Sounds like good advice now.

Greta apparently has Aspergers, which I am loathe to mock her for, but if you have heard her without a script, she can't put together even a rudimentary coherent thought. I think her condition is being exploited by some unsavory characters.

Scott W. Do you have a link or something to her speaking w/o a script?

Secondly, all my liberal friends on FB are hailing her as some sort of spokesperson for Aspergers Syndrome, while conservatives are asking. "Why isn't this child abuse?"

Her parents are: 'Malena Ernman and actor Svante Thunberg ... her "fame-seeking", "stage-parents", particularly her "fading opera starlet mother" who performed internationally, were "pimp(ing) her out" without regard for Thunberg's alleged mental problems, which included Lowe's long list of disabilities, by which Greta and her sister were claimed to be handicapped. By so doing, Lowe wrote, they were subjecting her to "child abuse."'
