This was all an effort to disrupt the 2020 elections. The Dems seem to have thought that if Trump were removed from office, he would have to be removed from all the primary ballots. I don't see that. And of course there was no chance he would be removed from office. Its practical effect was an effort to dirty up his reputation with voters to give themselves a chance. Seems to have backfired.
I wish they would look squarely at what they're trying to do. Even if the charges were true that he talked about the idea of withholding aid from Ukraine in exchange for a Biden investigation (and those charges are NOT proved, despite the gossip coming from John Bolton or from the NSC leakers), the fact is that he DID NOT withhold the aid for any reason, Biden or otherwise. They are trying to remove the president for a thought crime, not for an action.
